| HISTORY : | Margaret Cameron was the daughter of Senator Simon Cameron
of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. She was born on September 20, 1836, the third
of five children between Senator Cameron and his wife Margaret Brua. She
married Harrisburg newspaper editor and United States Representative Richard
J. Haldeman in 1871. The couple had three children. She died on December
17, 1915 and is interred at Harrisburg Cemetery. |
| CONTENTS: | Consists of two diaries written by Maggie Cameron, daughter of Simon Cameron, during her travels to the British Isles and western Europe in 1857 and when she accompanied her father to Russia following his appointment as ambassador in 1862. Includes descriptions of places visited in the Great Britain, France, Germany and other western European countries from May 22nd to September 28th, 1857 and her trip to Russia from May 5th to July 23rd, 1862. |
