HISTORY : Elizabeth M. Fortney was a student at Millersville State Normal School from the fall of 1882 to spring of 1883. Prior to arriving Millersville she studied at Spring Mills Academy in Centre County. She did not graduate from the Normal School received a teaching certificate. After departing Millersville she is believed to have taught public school in Centre and Perry Counties. She passed away in 1944 and buried at Liverpool Cemetery in Liverpool, Perry County, Pennsylvania.
CONTENTS: Consists of correspondence between Elizabeth M. Fortney and Harry C. Rothrock from December of 1881 to February of 1883. The letters were written when Rothrock was a student at Pennsylvania State College. Mentions academic and social activities at Millersville State Normal School, including class lectures and athletic events.
