| HISTORY : | Henry Doll was a farmer from Manchester Township, York County, Pennsylvania during the later half of the 19th century. Henry A. Doll, the elder cousin of Henry, was a shoemaker and farmer from Manheim Township, York County, Pennsylvania from the mid to late 19th century. Jacob Doll, the son of Henry, was born in Spring Garden Township, York County, Pennsylvania on May 24, 1851. He spent his childhood and early adulthood on his father's farm. In 1879 he began manufacturing cigars near Starview, Pennsylvania. By the mid 1880's he was producing over 700,000 cigars a year. |
