HISTORY : Henry Doll was a farmer from Manchester Township, York County, Pennsylvania during the later half of the 19th century. Henry A. Doll, the elder cousin of Henry, was a shoemaker and farmer from Manheim Township, York County, Pennsylvania from the mid to late 19th century. Jacob Doll, the son of Henry, was born in Spring Garden Township, York County, Pennsylvania on May 24, 1851. He spent his childhood and early adulthood on his father's farm. In 1879 he began manufacturing cigars near Starview, Pennsylvania. By the mid 1880's he was producing over 700,000 cigars a year.
CONTENTS: Contains the account books of Henry and Jacob Doll of Manchester Township, York County, Pennsylvania and Henry A. Doll of Manheim Township, York County, Pennsylvania from 1841 to 1903. The bulk of the records are from the 1880's to the turn of the century. Includes the business records of a shoe company from 1873 to 1882, the family farm records 1855 to 1857 and the estate records of Henry Doll (1902) and Adam Dessenberger (1882-1883).
