| HISTORY : | Sallie Eva Bolton was originally from Collamer, Chester County, Pennsylvania. She was a student and an Assistant Teacher of Reading, Geography and Mental Arithmetic at Lancaster County Normal School (Millersville, Pennsylvania) from 1855 to 1858. After departing Millersville she married and settled in Liberty Square, Drumore Township, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. She is buried in the Drumore Friends cemetery in Liberty Square. |
| CONTENTS: | Contains the correspondence of Sallie Eva Bolton to her mother from 1855 to 1858 while she attended and taught at Lancaster County Normal School (presently Millersville University of Pennsylvania). Includes comments on her concerns for her family, her feelings about a number of everyday events, including marriage, illness, and her professional life as a young female faculty member in rural Pennsylvania.
