  • Biography Reference Center
    Offers more than 461,000 full-text biographies of actors, authors, composers, explorers, figures relevant to U.S. & world history, inventors, musicians, Presidents of the United States, current world leaders and more.
  • Classical Net
    Includes reference information and images. The Composer Index/Master Composer Index is particularly useful for basic biographical information.
  • American National Biography
    American National Biography offers portraits of more than 18,700 men and women whose lives have shaped the nation.

Find Musical Scores, Partial Scores, and Work Analyses

  • Naxos Music Library
    The Resources tab of the menu under the NAXOS title bar has a useful Work Analysis section.
  • Classical Scores Library
    Provides access to over 25,000 scores and 600,000 pages of information covering all major genres and time periods.
  • ChoralWiki, home of the Choral Public Domain Library
    Contains free choral/vocal scores, texts, translations, and other useful information covering 2,067 composers and their works.
  • Cambridge History of Music
    Provides information on music history from the 17th to 20th Centuries and includes volumes dedicated to the history of music performance, the history of Western musical theory and the history of American music. Does not include full scores.

  • JSTOR Journal Archive
    A full-text archive of over 1,000 of the best scholarly journals in the social sciences, humanities, mathematics, life sciences, etc. Full-text is available from the first issue, but does not include the most recent 2-5 years.
  • Music Index
    Music Index is a comprehensive guide to music periodicals. It is especially useful for finding academic journal articles relevant to music. Includes both full-text materials and links to items that can be requested from other libraries.
  • Project Muse
    Full-text of 300+ peer-reviewed journals. Covers literature, history, the arts, culture, education, political science, gender studies, etc.

  • Newspaper Source
    Access the full-text for more than 400 newspapers and other sources. Includes: USA Today, The Christian Science Monitor, and The Times (London); plus transcripts from CNN, National Public Radio, CBS News, Fox News, CNBC, etc.
